A First-Person Contemporaneous Account of Combat Missions Flown with the 100th Bomb Group, England 1944-1945

During the Second World War, John A. Clark flew as the copilot of a B-17 Flying Fortress in the "Bloody Hundredth", the famous 100th Bomb Group of the Eighth Air Force.  After each of his 32 missions over Germany, he recorded a diary entry describing his combat experiences.  That diary is the focus of this war memoir.  The unfolding story provides a vivid account of aerial combat in the brutal air war over Europe, including encounters with "flak" and German fighters, on 7 to 9 hour missions during the harsh winter of 1944-1945.  Over 200 combat photographs and illustrations, all from the author's collection, provide additional drama to this account of the life of a WWII combat pilot and his honoring of the sacrifices of his fallen comrades.
